Cloos Sustainability Report: The Impact of our Eco-friendly, Biodegradable Acetate

Cloos Sustainability Report: The Impact of our Eco-friendly, Biodegradable Acetate
At Christopher Cloos, we’re committed to minimizing the negative impact on the environment from our production.

The introduction of the biodegradable Cloos x Brady Collection presents our first step towards a more responsible future, by focusing on the use of premium sustainable materials, without sacrificing the flair for design, aesthetics and craftsmanship that has always been our hallmark.

We are proud to have commissioned our first monthly CO2 report to understand our footprint and use it as a benchmark for change. Here’s a summary to give perspective on the impact of the introduction of our bio-acetate.

The impact in numbers

The emission of a traditional acetate frame is approximately 4.73kg of CO2-eq. However, by using recycled, biodegradable acetate, CO2 emission is reduced dramatically, by almost 66%.

During the month of October, Christopher Cloos’ production of frames using biodegradable materials corresponded to a total reduction of CO2 emission of 9,950.75kg, which is the equivalent of pairs of jeans or 292.5 pairs of jeans or almost 25,000 miles driven by an average passenger vehicle.

Where we are going

From October 2020, 15% of our collection is made from the biodegradable, eco-friendly materials, well on our way to make 100% of our collection from responsible materials.

Our commitment to a more sustainable production would not have been a reality without the incredible ongoing support from all of our customers. Thus, we want to thank all of you for making our responsibility initiatives possible – together, we will make a difference.

All the best,

Team Cloos
